One Small Step

Ten years ago today, at the age of 31, after more than a decade of cleaning grills, waiting tables, and overcoming a few too many adolescent mistakes, I walked across a stage in South Florida, proudly counting myself among the growing class of college graduates. Since that time, I’ve published a book and started another, finished a masters and joined ranks with academic and research librarians, taught three years of elementary and five years of middle, started a small, but successful business, and I remain, now, endlessly ambitious to serve, restless in an effort to make up for every moment I lost in those earlier years.
