A Boat Ride Out of Interlaken

Probably the most cool, breezy, and relaxing two hours of our trip so far, riding along the cleanest, clearest water at the base of the Alps. After that we had lunch next to a castle, climbed up to and into a cave, then rode a 60-degree incline to the top of another mountain. A full day for sure, but a good day.

This turned out to be our last day in Switzerland en route to Austria. And while it might have seemed exciting that we were heading on to another beautiful place, we had done so much in Switzerland that we slightly regretted not having another day, one more day to head back up to Mannlichen with a picnic lunch and just stare at the most beautiful view of the Swiss Alps. But alas, we said goodbye that next day to a country where the trains weren’t always on time (but usually were), where people were overwhelmingly kind, gracious, and patient, and where the food was always delicious.
