With All My Love

Today is Melissa’s birthday. And that means a lot of things at this moment. For most of our friends and family in the west, it means June 20 hasn’t actually happened yet, it means we’re six hours ahead of schedule in a part of the world she’s been dreaming about and planning to visit for years, it means we’re about to celebrate her special day in Austria. But that also means admitting that simply being here, simply making it this far, simply getting to this point hasn’t been simple at all. It means my incredible wife has fought through years of health issues, years of financial anxiety, years of academic and occupational pressure to reach a point where she could literally and freely stand in the middle of the Swiss Alps and take it all in, a simple-looking life that’s been anything but simple.
