Those Georgia Waterfalls
When it comes to vacation, Melissa and I tend to plan out our trips in advance, making sure we carve out time for all the things we really want to do. I’m sure we’d both concede that it removes serendipity from the experience of travel, but we’ve found that most of the time, if we go somewhere without a plan, we end up feeling aimless and regret the day we wasted because we had no direction. Case in point, we planned to spend a part of this summer in Switzerland and Austria (our second attempt), and we mapped out every location we wanted to stop in advance. But with the pandemic still raging and rising, we chose to settle on a drivable distance, someplace near but far, like Blue Ridge, Georgia. As it turns out, making no plans for a week was exactly what we needed. We had a close encounter with a bear, started fires in the cabin, and went around chasing waterfalls when we felt like getting out. A pretty perfect trip.
